Biodiversity Management Bureau

The Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), formerly known as the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau, is a staff bureau under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Its primary task is to conserve, manage and develop the country’s biological diversity that includes protected areas, coastal and marine environment, caves and wetland ecosystems, and wildlife resources.

The BMB serves as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Management Authority for Terrestrial Wildlife, and is also the national focal point for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), and the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention).
